Rachel Farndell, Director of Faststream Recruitment has been involved with Southampton City Training’s Entry To Employment programme, where she spent a morning with a group of Learners aged 16 – 18 on an ‘Office Skills’ course. The programme gives youngsters interested in gaining employment within business and administration an insight into what working in an office is really like.

Rachel, who is an experienced Interviewer with Faststream, was able to provide the group with tips and guidance on how to sell and promote themselves to prospective employers. Topics covered included preparing for the interview, introduction / first impressions and the interview itself.

Course leader Lesley Sheldon commented: “Involving Employers in our training programmes can only benefit the Learners and provide them with a greater awareness of what skills and knowledge they need to gain employment”.

Rachel added: “I’m pleased my talk was so well received by the group.  In my experience successful interviews are the result of good preparation and a positive attitude.  Whilst experience is important, it’s how you sell yourself on the day that really counts.  I look forward to hearing about the group's interview successes”.
